Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player secured his maiden title for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult period, winning just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden title following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt from spring of that year.

Victory also indicates he has won 21 titles at twenty-one different competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters together, so to win a championship is particularly special," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child her name, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his last six title deciders, featuring in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive play style and regular emotional displays on court had caused observers to doubt if his capacity to play at the highest level was finished.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play positively, supported by an improved service.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky opponent, winning four of the final five games to take the lead.

Both players traded breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his first tour championship, seized the initiative to force a final set.

The opponent saved 4 initial break points in a competitive deciding set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner earned the title with a shot at the net area, with Moutet unable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
